Public Events Geneva Environment Network High Level 25th Anniversary Celebration

The celebration of the 25 Years of the Geneva Environment Network – the pivotal platform of international Geneva dedicated to GENerating participation and engagement for increased collaboration among stakeholders in the fight against the triple planetary crisis – started with a series of events exploring and highlighting frameworks and partnerships that can strengthen environmental governance. It will conclude with a closing ceremony on 20 January 2025. This approach aims to create a meaningful and impactful celebration, inspiring renewed commitment to environmental governance and collaborative action.

WHO Executive Board 156th session

The Executive Board decided that its 156th session should be convened on Monday, 3 February 2025, at WHO headquarters, Geneva, and should close no later than Tuesday, 4 February 2025. The Board further decided that the Programme, Budget and Administration Committee of the Executive Board should hold its forty-first meeting from Wednesday to Friday, 22–24 January 2025, at WHO headquarters. Should any limitations to physical meetings preclude the holding of these meetings in person, adjustments to the modalities should be made by the Executive Board or, exceptionally, by the Officers of the Board, in consultation with the Director-General. The Board further decided that the Standing Committee on Health Emergency Prevention, Preparedness and Response should hold its fifth meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday, 3 and 4 September 2024, and its sixth meeting on Wednesday and Thursday, 16 and 17 April 2025.

Established in 1994 by a resolution of the UN Economic and Social Council and  launched in January 1996, UNAIDS is guided by a Programme Coordinating Board (PCB) with representatives of 22 governments from all geographic regions, the UNAIDS Cosponsors, and five representatives of nongovernmental organizations, including associations of people living with HIV.

The Programme Coordinating Board has the following broad functions:

To establish broad policies and priorities for the Joint Programme, taking into account the provisions of General Assembly resolution 47/199;

To review and decide upon the planning and execution of the Joint Programme. For this purpose it is kept informed of all aspects of the development of the Joint Programme and considers reports and recommendations submitted to it by the Executive Director, and
