The Directorate of International Affairs (DAI Direction des Affaires Internationales in French) is responsible for implementing the State's policy in favour of international Geneva and solidarity. The DAI also acts as an interface between the canton's services and the actors of international Geneva. It provides its expertise on issues related to international policy and human rights, and contributes to the promotion of Geneva internationally.

The Delegate for International Geneva is responsible for dealing with all matters relating to the reception and local activities of international organisations.
Through its International Solidarity Department, the State of Geneva strives to promote sustainable development in order to contribute to the fight against poverty in the least favoured countries and to act to curb socio-economic inequalities, discrimination and exclusion.
International Geneva is a key sector of Geneva, which the State actively supports. In particular, it offers favourable conditions for the actors of international Geneva, encourages collaboration within this ecosystem and supports international cooperation projects. It also contributes to raising public awareness of global issues and to positioning the canton internationally.
