The Global Surgery Foundation (GSF) works with governments and frontline providers to build surgical care systems that will save lives and decrease disability. As a common platform for global surgery stakeholders, the GSF focuses on the low and middle-income countries which are furthest behind.

The Global Surgery Foundation aims a world with universal and equitable access to safe, quality, timely, and affordable surgical, obstetric, and anaesthesia care.

The mission of the Global Surgery Foundation is to accelerate and expand the provision of surgical, obstetrical, and anaesthesia care for attaining better health for all.

The Global Surgery Foundation achieves its mission for surgical, obstetrical, and anaesthesia care by:

  • Coordinating and convening – convene global surgery stakeholders on a platform, anchored in the United Nations and in collaboration with other UN agencies, countries, and partners to identify the most urgent frontline needs, align on common approaches, and share resources to meet these needs;
  • Financing – attract, mobilize, and leverage additional financial investments for improved solutions based on country-needs and transparent, equitable principles for maximum impact where it is needed most;
  • Catalysing expansion of care – drive change directly by leveraging our joint expertise with partners to co-design, implement, and scale-up context sensitive solutions
