The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is the training organization of the United Nations. It provides training and capacity-building activities to assist developing countries, particularly least developed countries (LDCs), small island developing states (SIDS), and the most vulnerable groups and communities, including those in conflict zones.
Established in 1963, UNITAR became operational in March 1965.
The Institute was initially based in New York, and was relocated to Geneva in 1993.
