ALASS [Latin Association for Health Systems Analysis] was founded on January 27, 1989 in Lugano.

ALASS is a living network of scientists (professors and researchers) and professionals (managers, planners, policy makers) in the health field interested in contributing to the solution of many problems concerning health systems in Latin countries.
Why does it focus on Latin countries?

ALASS is based on the assumption that there is a common Latin culture. This is manifested, among other things, in the perception of quality of life, disease prevention behaviors, and use of health services, as well as in national, regional, and local particularities.

These common characteristics make it easier to understand the particular problems of different countries and to adapt the same solutions to different places.

ALASS wants to bring together under one associative roof a group of interacting professionals who share their experience and skills in solving health system problems.

Given the multiple dimensions of health systems (community, organizational, professional, sociological, political, economic, etc.), no single discipline can provide an appropriate response to so many problems that arise. For this reason, ALASS favors a multidisciplinary approach to solving health and social problems, favoring a global vision of these problems and a systemic approach to their resolution.

ALASS does not limit its fields of investigation and integrates, among others, policy design, system regulation, planning, financing and management. This allows us to consider the impact of solutions on the organization, human resource management, customer satisfaction, etc.

Each year, ALASS organizes a three-day congress -CALASS- dedicated to the presentation of project results and concrete achievements.
ALASS also organizes workshops on specific topics.
