The mission of the MAHA organization is to coordinate, educate, guide and assist the implementation and development of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technology within the arena of Public Health programs.

The MAHA Center’s primary aims and objectives are to:

  • act as the front line Web platform treating all operationally linked GIS requests and delivering the GIS service remotely by its own means and/or locally with the support of specialized partners
  • supply GIS data, GIS services, and GIS infrastructure that support the Public Health needs of country
  • nurture a spirit of teamwork among international funding agencies, national partners and local agencies, private sector and educational institutions in addressing priority GIS issues and information development initiatives.

MAHA is covering the two key innovative services offered by Geographical Information System (GIS) and statistical activities:

  • setting up of static maps (public health based attributes) and dynamic maps (epidemiological time series variables) with predefined features,
  • new emerging analytics based upon modeling and data mining approaches.

MAHA is aiming at designing experiences that naturally hang off these services as they are critical for driving clients’ interactions about GIS and engaging them in a meaningful and valuable analytical process.

The MAHA Center, to be deemed as a GIS Shared Services Center, provides a more natural partnering process, so to interact with the end-users or new intermediaries, such as GAVI or any international funding agencies.
