Novartis is one of the world’s leading medicines companies.

Novartis is a Swiss pharmaceutical company that was created in 1996 by the merger of Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz.

Novartis is headquartered in Basel.

The Basel Campus is the global headquarters of Novartis and employs approximately 8,000 associates. It is a state-of-the-art research, development and management centre where teams work across divisions and functions.

Every year, more than 30 million people die from non-communicable diseases in developing countries. To address this societal challenge, Novartis is making a portfolio of 15 products available to governments, NGOs and other public health stakeholders for $1 per treatment per month through its Novartis Access programme launched in 2015. The products in the Novartis Access portfolio have been selected from the World Health Organization's (WHO) list of essential medicines. They are among the most frequently prescribed medicines in these countries. They treat cardiovascular disease, diabetes, respiratory diseases and breast cancer. In addition to offering affordable products, Novartis Access also works with local partners to improve prevention and diagnostic capabilities.

The Novartis Foundation is a non-profit organization and part of the corporate responsibility portfolio of Novartis in Basel, Switzerland. The foundation conducts projects to improve health, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa and in south-east Asia.
