The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the United Nations’ lead agency on international development. UNDP is a United Nations agency tasked with helping countries eliminate poverty and achieve sustainable economic growth and human development. The UNDP emphasizes developing local capacity towards long-term self-sufficiency and prosperity.

UNDP supports countries and communities as they work to eradicate poverty, implement the Paris Agreement on climate change and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. UNDP advocates for transformative change, and UNDP connects countries to the resources they need to help people build a better life.

Headquartered in New York City, it is the largest UN development aid agency,] with offices in 177 countries.

The UNDP is funded entirely by voluntary contributions from UN member states.

the UNDP Office in Geneva contributes to UNDP’s mission through serving as the UNDP Platform for Geneva and the Geneva-based organizations.
