Launched in 2017 by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) is now a standalone foundation active in nine cities around the world.

In the coming years, C/Can will continue to grow as it pursues its mission of supporting cities around the world as they work to improve access to equitable, quality cancer care.

Guiding Principles :

  • Solutions created by and for people affected by cancer : The participation of people affected by cancer is embedded in our process so that we make sure we respond to the needs of those most affected.
  • Cities driving change : Cancer is complex and we have to start somewhere. Working at the city level allows us to leverage the innovation and leadership that is already happening in cities on other complex issues.
  • The power is in the partnerships : Through our inclusive partnerships, we learn,  evolve and deliver value together.
  • Evidence-based decision making : We are generating knowledge, insight and quality data to better inform decision-making on cancer.
